Teledyne Relays Introduces two New Overload-Protected, Plastic 6-Pin DIP Relays for Military and Aerospace
HAWTHORNE, Calif. (June 9, 2004) - Teledyne Relays today introduced two new plastic, 6-pin DIP solid-state relays designed for commercial military and aerospace applications - the ZD20CF and the ZD24CC.
Both relays offer an extended operating temperature range, overload protection, screening options and more - all of which are mil-aero COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) requirements, according to Antonio Gallegos, product marketing engineer. Each relay also comes in a surface-mount package called the SZD.
The Series ZD20CF is a 2A, 60 Vdc relay that offers short-circuit/overload protection up to 33 Vdc to prevent damage to system components, assemblies and system wiring. The Series ZD24CC is a 500mA, 80 Vdc relay that offers short-circuit/overload protection up to 60 Vdc and features trip status/feedback.
The short-circuit/overload protection feature detects a short in the circuit and trips the relay off. Overload conditions such as a high current surge can also be detected. Once the relays trips off, it will remain off until the overload/short-circuit condition is removed and the relay is cycled (Off/On).
Both the ZD20CF and ZD24CC offer optical isolation to isolate control circuits from load transients and eliminate ground loops and signal ground noise. They also include low off-state leakage current for high off-state impedance.
Teledyne Relays developed the Series ZD in response to customer demand for small, short-circuit protected, low-cost plastic relays. Teledyne, through its Voice of the Customer program, continually interviews major customers and innovative new customers to determine their next-generation switching requirements as well as their recommendations for improving current products.
The ZD and SZD relays feature identical mechanical specifications except for pin length. The SZD relay measures 0.39 x 0.25 (excluding pins) x 0.175 inches (including pins) (9.91 x 6.35 x 4.45 mm) and weighs 0.035 ounces (1g).
Pricing for the ZD20CF and ZD24CC is $18.00 each in quantities of 10,000. Lead time for delivery is 10 weeks.
