Teledyne Relays Announces Its Most Revolutionary Relay Since the TO-5: The 10 GHz, Surface-Mount RF522 Relay
HAWTHORNE, Calif. (October 4, 2004) - Teledyne Relays, which transformed the electronics industry in 1961 with the invention of the TO-5 relay, today introduced the innovative Series RF522 relay - a compact, DPDT, surface-mount latching device characterized up to 10 GHz.
"The RF522 is Teledyne's most revolutionary relay since the TO-5," said Antonio Gallegos, product-marketing engineer. "It's the world's smallest 30-watt microwave switch. Compared with similar competitive relays, the RF522 offers 97% higher isolation at 7 GHz, 57% lower insertion loss at 7 GHz and 20 times more power at 5 GHz. It also delivers outstanding repeatability."
The Series RF522 is rated from DC to 10 GHz over a temperature range of -55°C to +85°C. It is available in two coil voltages - 5 and 12 Volts DC - and features 50-ohm characteristic impedance.
The RF522 package employs lead-free construction and is sealed against moisture and contamination. It measures .709 x .709 x .335 inches (18 x 18 x 8.5 mm). Ground bumps add .014 inch (.35mm) to the depth. The relay weighs .49 ounce (14g).
Teledyne Relays provides complete and thorough Test & Reliability data for the Series RF522. Evaluation test kits are available.
As a device that provides greater bandwidth than a TO-5 relay and is contained in a package smaller than a coaxial switch, the Series RF522 is suited for applications in the test and measurement, military and aerospace, and point-to-point telecommunications markets.
Pricing for the RF522 is $80.00 in large quantities. Lead time for delivery is 16 weeks.
